Scivolo

Scivolo, sometimes also called Cala Scivolo, is a rocky coastal spot on Favignana whose name comes from the shape of the stone, which slides towards the sea in a smooth, inclined surface. That morphology makes it recognisable and explains its use as an entry point into the water by people who know the island.

It is neither a beach nor an equipped area: there are no sandy shores, structures, natural shade, refreshment points or rescue facilities. The place suits confident swimmers who accept a completely natural setting and organise themselves independently.

The sloping surface that gives the site its name calls for particular care: wet rock is slippery and getting out can be harder than getting in, especially with a swell or where algae are present. Suitable footwear and checking your exit point in advance are essential precautions.

The sea is part of the Egadi Islands Marine Protected Area, with rules on navigation, mooring, fishing and diving to be checked through the authority''s official channels. On calm days the water is generally clear and allows surface snorkelling along the coast, keeping an eye on passing boats.
